Aux Armes de Strasbourg

I have travelled the world extensively over 40 years. I ate at all restaurants ranging from pop & mom’s to Michelin three stars. This is my honest review of the restaurant aux Armes de Strasbourg in France. This restaurant is located just 4 minutes’ walk from Notre-Dame Cathedral, and was open on a day early in the year when many other restaurants in the area were closed. It therefore appears to offer extended — possibly even continuous — service, which is particularly convenient for tourists looking for a quick and reliable lunch option near major sights. We stopped in for a relatively quick lunch. Although a green salad was not listed on the menu, the service — which was very fast and efficient overall — kindly accommodated our request without hesitation, which we appreciated. We then ordered a choucroute, prepared very much according to tradition. While it was not extraordinary, it clearly respected all the classic codes of the dish and delivered exactly what one would expect from a traditional Alsatian brasserie. As is often the case in this type of establishment, the tables are quite small and very close to one another, which creates a lively but rather tight atmosphere. A practical note as well: the staircase leading to the restrooms is quite steep, so a bit of caution is advised. Overall, this is a typical French brasserie, bustling and compact, with a certain charm that will appeal to those who don’t mind close seating and are mainly looking for a quick, authentic meal near major tourist attractions.

Great portion for each dish and quality is super delicious!!! The restaurant is close to old town and city centre so it is very convenient. Highly recommended

Absolutely worth a stop – a true culinary gem! The food was simply outstanding. The mussels were incredibly fresh, the escargot melted in the mouth, and the meat was so tender it literally fell off the bone. Portion sizes were generous – you definitely won’t leave hungry! The staff were extremely polite and attentive, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. A restaurant that truly deserves the highest praise!
