What separates Cocolobo from the other bars in the quarter isn't the drinks list — it's the geometry. Two floors, a terrace angled toward the Ill and the old Vauban fortifications, and a ground-floor room that shifts from casual dinner spot to something louder as the night moves along. That vertical split gives it a flexibility most places on this stretch can't match: you can come for a quiet early glass outside or commit to a full group evening that runs well past the tourist rush.

The terrace is the main draw, full stop. The view down rue des Glacières toward the half-timbered facades of the tannery quarter and the silhouette of the barrage Vauban is the kind of thing locals usually pretend not to care about — but everyone books the outside tables first. Get there early on summer evenings; the crowd coming up from les Ponts Couverts fills the neighborhood fast.

The food lands in honest tapas-and-snacks territory — plates to share, nothing that'll make you rethink your week, but reliable and reasonably priced for the location. Cocktails are solid rather than ambitious. The real value here is the range of uses: post-walk drinks with the dog (they're welcome), a kid-friendly dinner before 9pm, or a larger group that wants to stay out late without planning too hard.

One practical note: there have been evenings when drinks-only orders have been turned away when the kitchen is running. If you're coming just to drink, it's worth a quick check before you sit down. Reservations are accepted and genuinely useful if you're four or more.
