Most bars in this stretch of Esplanade are happy to coast on a decent terrace and cold beer. La Planque does something more deliberate: it programs. One honest note: the bathrooms feature some unapologetically adult artwork. Perfectly fine if you know it's coming, less so if you've brought the kids along after a long day on the Ill. La Planque isn't trying to be a family spot, and it doesn't pretend otherwise.
