“Overground Brewing is one of the very few spots in Quartier Gare actually brewing its own beer on-site.”
That's the thing that separates this place from every other bar within walking distance of the station: the beer isn't just curated, it's made here. The barman knows the recipes because he's close to the process — ask him about a pour and you'll get a real answer, maybe a taster, definitely an opinion. The From Space With Love alone is worth showing up for if you have any interest in craft beer.
But Overground doesn't gatekeep the experience. The room is stacked with art, there's a dartboard, an arcade machine, board games — it pulls in families, locals off the Ill, and passing travelers with equal ease. Dogs are welcome, kids are welcome, and nobody's going to side-eye you for ordering a round of pittzas instead of sitting down to a proper dinner.
The food is honest pub cooking in a pizza-forward style — generously sized, built to pair with a pint, not to win awards. That's exactly what it should be. The covered outdoor terrace fills up fast on warm evenings, so if you're coming as a group, a reservation is worth the two minutes it takes.
Location-wise, the Comte tram stop puts you right at the door, which makes this one of the more accessible go-to spots in Quartier Gare for anyone coming from the center. Prices are moderate and fair for the quality of what's in the glass.
