Most bars in Grande Île stake their identity on one thing — a tight wine list, a regional beer program, a kitchen that leans hard into Alsatian plates. Jeannette doesn't pick a lane, and that's actually the point. Craft beers alongside cocktails alongside milkshakes alongside knacks and quiche: it reads like a bar that can't make up its mind, but in practice it reads as a place that wants everyone to find their footing and stay a while.

The staff are genuinely warm — the kind of warm where the owner talks with you, not at you, and a complimentary beer turns up without ceremony. In this corner of Grande Île, where the shadow of la cathédrale draws a certain kind of crowd to a certain kind of polished establishment, that looseness feels earned rather than performed.

Food is honest and unpretentious: the quiche is solid, the knacks do exactly what knacks should do, and a good sandwich after a long afternoon wandering les ruelles is more than enough. Don't arrive expecting a full dinner — plates are small and the kitchen isn't trying to be anything more than a decent companion to the drinks. Prices reflect that honesty.

The terrace on rue des Tonneliers is calm enough to actually have a conversation. Dogs are welcome, which tells you something about the register. Reservations are accepted for groups, worth doing on weekends. If you're here in winter, ask about the Christmas beers — the Perle comes up in almost every conversation.
