The beef tartare comes with a properly sized salad rather than a garnish afterthought, and the terrine holds up as a serious starter. The burger contingent means groups with competing appetites don't have to negotiate.

Location-wise, it's hard to beat: steps from the barrage Vauban, directly on place Benjamin-Zix, which means you're getting the full Petite France panorama without being buried in the most congested alleys. That visibility brings tourist traffic — especially around the Christmas market, when the place runs at full capacity — but the staff apparently handles it without cracking, and makes a point of picking up phrases in guests' languages, which is the kind of small effort that actually lands.

Practical notes: reserve ahead for a terrace table in summer, particularly for dinner. Lunch on a weekday is your best shot if you're walking in without a booking. The bar program covers beer and wine, making it a reasonable stop after a walk along les lock bridges, not just a destination in itself.
