The malvazia suggestion alongside the lamb is the kind of call that turns a dinner into a conversation. For a room this unpretentious, that level of wine knowledge is genuinely surprising.

The name throws people. "Le Luxe" sounds like it'll cost you, but the pricing is fair for what arrives at the table — the Madagascar vanilla panna cotta alone is worth the detour, and the scallop carpaccio with pepper is the dish that keeps coming up in every conversation about this place.

Practical notes: reservations are worth making, especially mid-week when Krutenau regulars fill the room early. There's outdoor seating for the warmer months — good for a slow dinner after a walk along quai des Bateliers.
