Born & Raised
Little ItalySan Diego's most theatrical steakhouse
San Diego's most theatrical steakhouse. The room is jaw-dropping — hand-painted ceilings, taxidermy, old-money swagger. The dry-aged ribeye lives up to the setting. Dress up or don't bother.

“Absolutely incredible evening at Born & Raised—hands down one of the best steakhouse experiences in San Diego! The food was nothing short of amazing from start to finish. Every dish was perfectly executed, bursting with flavor, and presented beautifully. The dry-aged steaks were tender, juicy, and cooked to absolute perfection, and the sides (those hash browns and uni spaghetti if you tried them!) elevated everything to another level. A huge thank you to Chef Andres and the entire kitchen team—the creativity and precision in every bite showed real passion and skill. You could tell the heart and expertise that went into crafting such an outstanding meal. The staff was equally impressive: attentive, friendly, knowledgeable, and made the whole night feel special and seamless. From the warm welcome to the tableside service touches and spot-on recommendations, they made us feel right at home in such a stunning, upscale spot. If you’re looking for a memorable dinner with top-tier food, great vibes, and exceptional hospitality, Born & Raised is a must-visit. We’ll definitely be back—thank you for an unforgettable night! 5/5 stars all around.”

This is a must try when visiting San Diego. Located just across from Little Italy, Born and Raised is the perfect spot for a date night or celebratory gathering. The outside is modern and deco while inside is a trendy take on a speakeasy. With a fully stocked bar and live view kitchen, you will have a great view no matter where you are seated. The enjoyment goes beyond appearances. Service is top notch. If you have the pleasure of dining with Scott, you will be well versed on pairings and available specials. When the food arrives, you will be pleased with both presentation and taste. As delicious as your meal will be, try to save room for dessert as it’s a must!

Traveling from Utah and we stopped in for a drink because of the beautiful atmosphere. Phillipe was AMAZING! As a bartender myself I was thoroughly impressed with his demeanor and customer service! He was attentive and great to talk to. His recommendations were PERFECT! He definitely made our trip, thank you!!

Born and Raised was a fantastic experience overall. We had a reservation but couldn’t make it to the rooftop; however, the interior design is beautiful and totally makes up for it. The food was excellent, we ordered the Caesar salad, which was prepared in front of us and tasted amazing, and the steak was perfectly cooked and very flavorful. The staff were super friendly, the vibe was chill and cool, and everything felt relaxed yet upscale. Highly recommend it.

Very nice place, great atmosphere, albeit the food and prices are a bit pretentious. Some stuff is priced well (like the waygu for instance) and some stuff is overpriced (oysters, lobtster). I have traveled the world and can say that their seafood selection is good but way too overpriced for what it is. 6 oysters for $25 is not worth it. You can get a dozen oysters for $18 in New york or 20 oysters for $10 in colombia. Same thing with the lobster, $42 for 1 claw and half a tail in lukewarm butter.. Very disappointed there. On the east coast lobster is $37 for a full lobster at fine dining establishments. Beef wellington was good but was not as good as Gordon ramsays Wellington at hells kitchen. The standout dish was surprisingly the shrimp toast, would definitely order that again, and id like to try some of the tableside service dishes. The herb butter was very good as well. I have no complaints about the japanese waygu, the service, or the atmosphere. All these are 10/10. Was a fun experience to try once but if im spending this much id rather spend $700 at sushi maru for an absolute stunning dining experience.
