This spot was poppin' when we drive by, so we decided to give it a try. It's counter service. The menu items sounded good, so we ordered the burger and the shrimp salad. It took a pretty long time to get the food, but it could've been worse. When the food arrived the burger looked yummy, but the bacon looked fatty. But it was tasty. The better of the two options. The salad was okay, nothing great and it was way over dressed and had a strange BBQ sauce smothering the shrimp. Also for and $18 salad giving only 5 small shrimp is pretty ridiculous and stingy. I would definitely never order that salad again, but I'd give the burger 4 stars, docking for the bacon. As for the price I know everything is out of this world in regards to food pricing but this seems a little excessive for fast casual.
Overall I'll give 4 stars, partly because the ambiance and environment are warm, inviting, homey, and the decor is cute. Also the staff was friendly which makes a big difference.
A lovely spot in Pacific Beach for relaxing, hanging out, and/or working!
The vibes here are literally immaculate! It feels like hanging out in a friend's super cute beachside home, with some cozy seating where the living room would be, and an ordering counter for the kitchen.
There was also plenty of seating throughout the outdoor patio, which wraps around its corner lot and gives everyone plenty of room to spread out and find cozy, semi-private spaces for themselves.
There's some lovely light bites, pastries, and other treats you could order, although we just got some coffee drinks when visiting.
For myself - the Matcha Latte with a bit of honey, which was prepared absolutely perfectly!
So foamy, soft, and soothing to sip in a nice big green mug!
This is legitimately one of the best Matcha Lattes I've ever ordered from a cafe!
The barista lady was also very friendly and took so much care and attention into preparing each drink.
The coffee drinks were a bit pricey, and I ended up paying $11 after leaving a tip...but honestly the quality of the drink and the vibes of the environment made up for that price tag.
I loved Palmy's and would definitely come back - I highly recommend stopping by when you're in the Pacific Beach area!
I’ve been here a few times and have only ever gotten the açaí bowl or an iced coffee, very good. We went this morning during their rush and ordered an açaí bowl with gf granola, gf fried chicken and waffles and a burger with tots. Everything was 10/10. My daughter and I are both celiac so the açaí bowl and the chicken and waffles were a treat! The chicken and waffles were the star of the entire meal. I don’t know how they did it, but it was the best gf fried chicken I’ve ever eaten. You couldn’t even tell it was gf. Very, very crispy. Almost similar to Korean fried chicken. The ube waffle with the grilled peppers, pickles and chili were the cherry on top. Even the syrup was smoky and sweet. So amazing. Cannot wait to come back.
Food was ok, not out of this world but good enough, came out fast and warm. Brunette cashier barista was nice and helpful with menu suggestions. The restaurant had a cool beachy decor and its inside a craftsman style home. Plenty of seating outside and some seating inside. Parking a little tough, 2hr limit and cannot park in those spots between 8-10a on Thursdays so that would not be the day to come here if you're intending to drive/park.
Waited 20 minutes for my soggy shrimp salad. Another 30 after that for my friends cold burrito she had to ask for them to microwave again (it never got warm). Another 20 after that for my friends sandwich. We all ordered at the same time. Our other friend ordered an acai bowl and there was deadass mold in her fruit y’all can’t be serious. Food is so mid and unbalanced, taste is nothing special at all you’re better off going anywhere down the street. I personally don’t like mold in my food but if you do then this is the place for you!!
