Punch Bowl Social
Gaslamp Quarter“Punch Bowl Social is what happens when a bowling alley, arcade, and full-service restaurant stop fighting for dominance and just coexist under one roof.”
**What makes this different:** While The Waves, TACO CENTRO, and Las Hadas keep their focus squarely on food, Punch Bowl Social flips the script—this is a playground first, restaurant second. You're here to bowl, throw ping pong balls, play board games, or zone out at a vintage arcade cabinet, and the fact that you can order a BBQ bacon burger with rosemary fries while doing it is the bonus. Most Gaslamp spots make you choose between dinner or entertainment. Here, you get both without the venue having an identity crisis about it.
The space sprawls across multiple floors with bowling lanes, ping pong tables, and shelves of free-to-use board games. Groups of 30+ book entire floors. Couples grab a lane and split fries. The vibe skews casual in a way that works equally well for after-work drinks, date nights that don't require stilted conversation, or families looking to keep kids occupied while adults decompress.
Food-wise, it's American comfort done competently—burgers, fries, shareable apps—with a full bar that doesn't phone it in. Reviewers mention the shallot and thyme dressing on salads and music bingo on Saturday afternoons, which tells you the kitchen's paying some attention. Drinks are hit-or-miss according to some, but service consistently lands in the "friendly and organized" category, even when managing large groups.
Practical notes: They take reservations, which matters when you're coordinating bowling lanes. Buses and trolleys run close, so parking downtown isn't mandatory. If you're coming solo or as a couple, aim for off-peak hours—weekend nights pull the group-dinner and late-night crowds. The move: grab a lane, order the rosemary fries, and let the games do the heavy lifting.

Waitress name is Airie. Very polite and knowledgeable about menu for the questions I asked. I ended up ordering the BBQ bacon burger with rosemary fries and adding a side salad with the shallot and thyme dressing. The first thing that I really liked was that the cups wide mouth mason jars! And the water pitcher is an old style glass milk jug or orange juice container. Very very nice touches I thought. After settling in we started noticing a little bit more of the layout of the atmosphere which is kind of cool and industrial looking. It's really just stripped down there but with some nice lighting fixtures and some half split log tables for where we were seated. The salad came out first and the shallots of time dressing was very light yet still very tasty! The burger came in a small cast iron skillet, which I love as a presentation! The burger didn't have a whole lot of taste to it, but it was cooked the way that I like and paired with the Rosemary fries was pretty good. Someone else from the party had ordered a dish that had some coleslaw on it and whenever I took some of that and added that to the burger it really set it off very well. Highly recommend if you have that opportunity. That whole combination, even if it's not the usual, was very very tasty! All in all, my experience was really good. I could totally see hanging out at this place for a while. Drinking some beers and just chilling. I gave it a five star overall because I did really enjoy it. I did give a little bit of a deduction to four stars on the food because I did have to kind of mix and match a few things to really make it stand out and that cost a little bit extra but overall with the way my experience went, the trip deserves the five stars.

I was excited to try this place because I've never been. We walked in and were greated right away. Got some bowling shoes and paid for a lane then grabbed some drinks and ordered food. We took our drinks back to our table and honestly the drinks weren't that great.. my friend just got a vodka redbull to recover from the fail of our first round of drinks. We ordered the southwest burger with bacon and the bang bang shrimp bao. The burger was super messy, greasy and pretty bland.. the fries were pretty decent at first then got super salty as I ate them so I ended up just eating the bacon off my burger. I got a side of ranch with it and the ranch was pretty watery with lots of dill in to. It was okay ranch but it was just so watery I had to be careful dipling my fries because it was dripping everywhere. Ranch score: 6.2/10 The bang bang shrimp was just a bit too sweet for our liking. It was fried okay but put on a plate that took way too much rokm up on our table.. the breading wasn't season so all the flavor came from the over sweetened sauce on it. Needless to say we didn't finish our food.. The inside was super fun and there were a lot of activities to do and the inside was huge. We bought a card for the arcade but there weren't a lot of games and we barely used it. And the small log tables weren't too practical. The couches were so slippery and it made it comfortable to sit since the tables were so low. A good place but not the best food or drinks. Glad I tired it but I wouldn't come back

Super fun place to go to for a date or with friends. They have a lot of card / board games you can use for free. Excellent service (we had Jeremy he was super cool!). Good music. Bowling, a ping pong table & more.

Food was super tasty, and affordable. We went there to check out music bingo on a Saturday early afternoon and had a lot of fun. The waitress we had was very nice and attentive. Many buses and trolleys go very close so that's what we did.

Went to Punch Bowl Social with a group of 30+ friends and had an amazing time. The staff reserved an entire floor just for us, with food and drinks ready to go. Service was friendly and organized, and everything ran smoothly—no small feat for a group our size. After eating and sipping, we jumped into the many games available, which made it easy for everyone to mingle and have fun. The atmosphere is lively, the space is roomy, and there’s something for every kind of guest. Great spot for a night out with friends or team events. Highly recommended!
