Food was just alright. The portion is quite small. My husband and I ordered different toppings and sauces but we received the exact same toppings and sauces for our meals. Felt like the kitchen didn’t care to read what each of us wanted for the add-ons and sauces. I was hoping the pita bread was warm and fresh but it came out cold and hard. Overall, it was just an alright meal. I wouldn’t recommend.
We have been regulars for years, but the quality has been rapidly decreasing lately (ironically as prices rise and locations expand). Frequent mistakes with orders, sloppy work etc. Two times in a row my wife asked for pickled turnips but got pickles.
Yesterday, we arrived 30 minutes before closing (7:30). The bowls we ordered were room temperature; fries stale; chicken lukewarm and gristly; almonds cold and burnt. It felt like the employees were getting ready to close, and just gave us the leftover stuff. The meat had already been taken off the spit; my guess is that we just got whatever chunks were still sitting there at room temp. The almonds and fries were probably from a batch made earlier and rather than fire up a new one so close to closing, they figured just throw it on there.
If you stay open to 8, then keep the same quality until 8. Don’t start shutting everything down at 7:30 just because you want to go home early. And don’t sacrifice quality in the name of expansion. This used to be a great local spot, but as is often the case, the allure of more locations and revenues has the owners focusing their attention elsewhere.
I ordered online for pickup and got a completely different pita than what i ordered. Unfortunately I picked up in a hurry and didn't notice until I got back to work and didn't have time to drive back/ wait for correct order. I ordered a pita with steak, lettuce, onions, pepperoncinis, shredded cheese, feta cheese and a side of almonds. It was packaged neatly in a paper bag with my name and order, but the pita i received had chicken, fries, tomatoes, parsley mix, pickles, basically everything i didn't pick haha. I do think it was an honest mistake, probably just misplaced someone else's order into my bag, but I was pretty bummed. Also paid an extra dollar for the steak that i didn't get. I did get my side of almonds though. After removing the pickles, I ate it anyway and it was just ok, but then again it didn't have any of the ingredients or sauces that I picked.
Whenever I take a trip down to San Diego, I always look forward to dining at this fantastic restaurant. The freshness of the food is truly impressive, making every meal a delightful experience. My personal favorite dish is the "make my own bowl," 🥣 🥣 🥣 where I can customize my ingredients to perfection. Each component is seasoned just right, creating a harmonious explosion of flavors with every bite.
Today was particularly special, as I had the opportunity to chat with one of the owners, Moody. He is an incredibly friendly gentleman, exuding warmth and hospitality. I expressed my thoughts to him, mentioning how much I would love to see a location open up in Oceanside. He listened attentively, and it was clear he values customer feedback, making the experience even more enjoyable.
I had a great experience at Tahini’s! The food was really good and everything came out fresh. I also wanted to say Mohamad was super helpful, friendly, and made the whole visit even better. Great service and great food. Definitely recommend
