Wood-fired Neapolitan pies with a San Diego craft beer list that actually matches the ambition of the food

Wood-fired Neapolitan pies with a San Diego craft beer list that actually matches the ambition of the food. The margherita is textbook. The pistachio mortadella is why you came.

WOW!! This pizza place was so good and I'm not a huge fan of pizza. The craving for it comes every few months but this place was super good! Had the woodfired focaccia bread (not pictured) and it was eaten immediately. Had it with calabrian butter, so creamy and deliciously salty. Kevin surprised me and kindly brought a sample of the vodka sauce to try with it. Also super good! I'm sure all of the dips and sauces that go with the focaccia are good. Had the classic combo supreme and lady diavola pizzas. Loved how generous they were with the toppings on the pizza, every bite was fantastic to the crust! Kevin surprised us with some sorbet at the end. He was really above and beyond with his service. Attentive and quick to fill water, address our needs, and gave good recommendations. Would definitely come back just for him and the focaccia bread! Thank you so much!!

My partner and I had an amazing time at Tribute as a make-up Valentine's day night. The kale salad was amazing, the Calabrian chili really stood out. Same effect on the lady diavolo pizza. The dirty dancing was really elevated with the shaved red onion, and the harissa ranch was a nice touch, even though I'm not usually a pizza drizzle fan. The pistachio rasberry bread pudding was divine, and the soft serve perfectly balanced it out. The wow factor for the night was definitely our server Kevin. Super knowledgeable about the menu, and also very attentive and ready to help. He saw my partner dumping on the red pepper flakes, and asked him if he wanted extras without us prompting him at all. We really enjoyed our time here!

When I knew I was coming to San Diego I searched for the best pizza place in San Diego and Tribute came up. I was really intrigued when I saw they were ranked 34th in the country and immediately booked a reservation. Let me tell you, I was BLOWN away! My expectations were surpassed and I can see why the are ranked one of the best of the best! The service was great! Our server was patient, kind, happy to accommodate and answer any questions we had. The food was DELICIOUS, I mean INCREDIBLE! We started off with the focaccia bread with burrata cheese and balsamic. LOVED IT! The side of oven roasted vegetables were so fresh. Our waiter told us they get them from the local farmers market. Now, for the best part….the PIZZA! They have a variety of pizzas you can order in three different sizes: Neapolitan, grandma, or New York style. My mom and sister had a New York style with pepperoni, sausage, and hot honey. I got a cheese pizza and added mushrooms, tomatoes, roasted peppers on the Neapolitan style. (I appreciated how accommodating they were)The crust was light and crisp. The ingredients were fresh. One of the best pizzas I have ever had. If you come to San Diego you need to put this on your must list!

Great pizza in the North Park neighborhood of San Diego. First off, the pizzas are excellent. Varied and well thought out. The drinks are excellent as well. They have a running theme of making tribute to well known pizzas and drinks. So they will have classics from all over the world, then reference where they are from on the menu. A pretty cool concept. Service was fast and friendly which is worth noting because the place was packed on a Sunday night. The food took quite a while though because it was so slammed. Now to why this is a 4/5 and not a 5/5. The waits are long, and you have to get a reservation if you don’t want to wait 2 hours outside. This is insane for a cool pizza joint. It’s pizza, elevated pizza, but still pizza. Not worth 2 hours of waiting or fighting for a reservation online. This isn’t the restaurant’s fault but still something to keep in mind. Worth it if you can just get in or a random reservation but not worth fighting through the crowds.

We’ve been to Tribute twice now—once a while back when we brought my mom along, and then just recently, just the two of us. We came back because we loved the vibe the first time, and it was just as great on our second visit. The pizzas are delicious and each one is like a little homage to a unique flavor or style, which really suits the name “Tribute.” They’re known for their cocktails, although we ended up ordering wine both times—so we’ll have to try the cocktails next time! A funny little detail: before we arrived, we got a bunch of confirmation messages that felt a bit like I had a dentist appointment—pretty formal stuff! But once we got there, the warm hospitality, especially from our server Brice, made us feel totally at home. He even surprised us with a complimentary dessert. Overall, it’s a place we’d definitely recommend and we can’t wait to go back!
