Biggie's Burgers

While Rocky's up in La Jolla plays the smash-burger-and-craft-beer angle and La Huasteca sticks to birria, Biggie's does one thing the others don't: it stays open late and stays consistent when half the boardwalk spots are either closed or phoning it in. This is the post-surf, post-bar, post-whatever burger that tastes the same at 2pm as it does at midnight — juicy, messy, exactly what you need when you're hungry and don't want to think too hard.

The **King Burger** is the baseline test — bacon, pickles, grilled onions, nothing fancy, just properly seared beef that doesn't fall apart halfway through. The **BBQ burger** amps it up with fried onions and enough bacon to justify the extra napkins. Both come with curly fries that actually stay crispy, which is rarer than it should be in PB. If you're still hungry after the burger (unlikely), the **chili cheese fries** are the move — not fancy, just hot chili and melted cheese over fries that can handle the weight.

The vibe is pure PB casual: flip-flops, ball caps, groups arguing over milkshake flavors. Outdoor seating faces Mission Blvd, which means you're watching the boardwalk parade while you eat. Service is quick, prices are low, portions are big. The strawberry shake is solid; the caramel cookie shake is better.

Parking is standard PB nightmare — side streets or the lot across Mission if you get lucky. Wait times are minimal unless it's late-night weekend rush, in which case just order at the counter and grab a seat outside. This isn't the best burger you'll ever eat, but it's the best burger you'll find at 11pm in PB without driving inland, and that's worth more than most Yelp stars suggest.
