About this spot

Werewolf is the rare Gaslamp spot that operates as three completely different venues in one building—serious brunch operation by day, craft cocktail bar at night, karaoke basement whenever.

**What makes this different:** While most Gaslamp joints pick a lane—taco spot, nightclub, tourist trap—Werewolf refuses to choose. It's a legitimate brunch destination serving pork belly Benedict and French-toasted Uncrustables (yes, really) until mid-afternoon, then pivots to craft cocktails and American bar food, then adds karaoke for anyone who needs that outlet. This isn't a gimmick; people actually plan visits around the brunch menu, then come back for the Double Bloody Maria, then return again to sing badly. Most places this versatile do everything poorly. Werewolf somehow pulls it off.

The secret seems to be Larry and owner Jasmine, who turn up in reviews more than the food does. Regulars mention them by name, which tells you this isn't just Gaslamp foot traffic—people genuinely like being here. The vibe stays surprisingly un-sceney for a Fourth Avenue address, even when the karaoke gets going.

Brunch is the move if you're visiting once. The Sans La Croute (that Uncrustable situation) sounds absurd until you taste it. The pork belly Benedict earns consistent mentions. Country fried steak shows up big enough to share. Fair warning: they run with minimal staff during breakfast service, so expect a wait if you hit it during conference season.

The cocktail program isn't phoning it in either—craft drinks that hold up whether you're here for a date or killing time before karaoke starts. Outdoor seating works for dogs and people-watching. Late-night hours mean you can actually eat here after other downtown spots have shut down their kitchens.

Downside: service can lag during busy periods when one server is covering the whole floor. And if you're looking for quiet conversation, maybe skip the karaoke nights.

Common questions

FAQ

Is there parking near Werewolf?
You're in the Gaslamp Quarter, so street parking is tight and paid—expect to circle or use one of the nearby lots. The spot's worth the hassle, but budget extra time if you're not familiar with downtown San Diego parking.
Do I need a reservation or can I just walk in?
Reviews mention plenty of seating, which suggests walk-ins are generally fine, especially for breakfast and lunch. But we'd call ahead if you're coming with a large group or hitting brunch on a weekend—that's when spots like this get packed.
What should I order?
Start with the Pork Belly Benedict for brunch—reviewers rave about it. The Sans La Croute (a French toast–style uncrustable) is legitimately a standout, and their craft cocktails, particularly the Double Bloody Maria, pair perfectly with either meal.
Is Werewolf good for brunch?
Absolutely. This is a serious brunch-and-breakfast spot with food that shows real skill. Expect good cocktails and a solid casual vibe, though service can get slammed during peak brunch hours since they sometimes staff lean—plan for a slightly slower meal if it's busy.
Can I bring my dog?
Yes—the spot has outdoor seating and is tagged as pet-friendly, so your dog can join you on the patio. Just confirm with them about their specific policies when you arrive.
What's the actual vibe—is this a late-night party place or a daytime spot?
Both. Werewolf works as a solid breakfast-and-brunch destination in the morning, morphs into an after-work casual joint at lunch and dinner, and has a karaoke and nightclub side for late-night crowds. The owner Larry and manager Jasmine are apparently legendary for making the experience feel like you're hanging with friends.
Is there anything you should know before going?
Don't sleep on meeting the staff—reviewers specifically call out the owner Larry and manager Jasmine as part of why the place feels special. It's the kind of spot where the people matter as much as the food. Also: craft cocktails and brunch eggs done right, so come hungry.

First off. If you dont meet Larry then you have failed to meet the entire experience (Jasmine included). This place is an absolute 12/10, it is a place i will plan to visit over and over again, the owner, Jasmine, and Larry make this place feel like you are in the same Cafe from the Friends TV series, its completely comfortable, Amazing Food! ( I heavily recommend the Pork Belly Benedict! The pork belly is absolutely perfect and quite LITERALLY melts in your mouth, next time I wanna see if they will sub the maple syrup for hollandaise.) The entire place has beautiful decorations and hidden little designs all over. You have to go!

Dope spot. Wills have loved to have more time to check out the night scene too. The brunch was amazing though! I got the pork belly Benedict fire! And we got the country fried steak delicious.

Went here for breakfast while in town for the conference. The good: the food was good and there was plenty of seating. The server was kind. The bad: there was only one server so it was a little slow.

Delicious food and craft cocktails — this place is a must try if you’re nearby. The Sans La Croute is the most amazing dish you will not regret it! It’s an uncrustable that’s been French toasted and it is incredible!! The Double Bloody Maria and Something in Bloom were delicious — we will be back every chance we get!
